In this list, we count down the 10 best moments of season 5. And by best, we mean some of the most heart-wrenching moments of G.O.T.
BE WARNED, THIS POST IS FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH SPOILERS.

10. Arya Enters the House of White and Black
Arya Enters the House of White and Black
Things have been slow on the Arya front this season, but we’re nonetheless happy to see her joining the House of White and Black, training grounds of the Faceless Men. And we even get a reunion with one of the show’s and books’ most mysterious characters, Jaqen H’ghar.

9. Bronn Sings
Bronn Sings
Bronn is easily one of the show’s most likeable characters, and it’s a delight to hear him show off his vocal chops in an ode to the beauty of Dornish women.

8. Tyene Sand and Her…
Tyene Sand and Her...
One of the biggest criticisms of season 5 is how poorly Dorne’s Sand Snakes have been portrayed on the show. From being awesome characters in A Feast for Crows, the show’s versions of Oberyn’s bastard children are just meh.
Fortunately, redemption came in the form of Tyene Sand’s mammaries.

7. Jorah and Dany Make Up
Jorah and Dany Make Up
After being exiled by Daenerys Targaryen for spying, Jorah Mormont tries to win the queen’s favor by bringing him Tyrion Lannister, only to be exiled once more, with Tyrion’s recommendation to boot. But that second rejection didn’t faze Jorah, who entered Meereen’s fighting pits to fight his way as champion of the games, ultimately saving Dany’s life and winning her back. Still friendzoned though.

6. Dany Training her Drogon. Get It?
Dany Training her Drogon. Get It
Just when things seemed to be at their worst for Dany, Drogon comes in a blaze of glory and roasts the Sons of the Harpy trying to murder the Queen of Meereen. Dany then rides Drogon and flies away to safety.

5. Tyrion and Dany Meet!
Tyrion and Dany Meet!
One of the biggest moments book readers have waited for years finally happened on the show. After escaping from Westeros, Tyrion makes his way to Meereen with Varys and Jorah Mormont’s “help” to act as advisor to Daenerys.

4. That Sansa Scene
That Sansa Scene
Nothing caused more outrage this season than Sansa Stark’s marital rape in the hands of Ramsay Bolton. With Theon/Reek watching, mind you. In the books, this scene originally involved Jeyne Poole, Sansa’s best friend masquerading as Arya Stark in an effort to gain the loyalty of the Stark bannermen.

3. Jon Snow Kills a White Walker and Meets the Night’s King

Episode 8 might have gotten the largest chunk of season 5’s budget, and it sure paid off. After being ambushed by thousands of wights at Hardhome, Jon faces off against a White Walker, who nearly killed him had it not been for his Valyrian Steel blade, Longclaw, which seems to be one of their few weaknesses—fire and dragon glass among them.

After making a mad dash back to their ships, Jon and the Night’s King engage in a stare-fest, showing Jon and us viewers just how screwed the Seven Kingdoms are.

2. That Shireen Baratheon Burning Scene
That Shireen Baratheon Burning Scene
By far one of the most heartbreaking scenes of the entire series, the scene where Stannis sacrifices his only daughter to Melisandre’s Lord of Light caught many viewers and book readers off guard. In true GRRM fashion, the show’s producers decided to off the few genuinely pure characters of the story.

1. Jon Snow Dies. Or Does He?
Jon Snow Dies. Or Does He
And finally, the shocker at the end of the season finale. Despite his honest efforts to try and save the realms of men, Jon quickly became the most hated man in the  Night’s Watch for his decision to let wildlings through the wall. Alliser Thorne and Olly lead a mutiny, stabbing Jon repeatedly “for the Watch.”
